With it enabled, your game will render at a lower resolution and then upscale the image so that it can output at whatever resolution you have set it to. Or hell, do what I just suggested and slap a gtx 980 or a 980ti in there for $100(ish) and you'll have a perfectly capable 1080p gaming rig for the moment.
